Wow, can't believe it's been almost a month since I've written here! Life has been crazy and I have another, secret, blog where I've been posting some kid stuff.
We're gearing up for our much-anticipated vacation. We leave tomorrow morning for the Aquarium of the Pacific. After that we'll head down to Newport Beach to stay in a hotel for the night -- the kids love that -- and then head over to grandma and grandpa C's house.
Phil and I will take off on our own on Wednesday for a couple of nights. Not sure yet where we're going to go, but we just need some alone time.
Things have been status quo around the hold Crouse Haus. Lucas is enjoying school (I think) and Amanda is chatting up a storm. I do enjoy the few hours I get alone with her in the morning and it's easy to get some work done while she colors or plays with her dollhouse. I wish I could also get a few hours with just Lucas each week because each kid is so unique and fun to have one on one. They can get a bit crazy when they are boy vying for my attention. But when they decide to get alone when they think I'm not looking, they are truly adorable. I love them to pieces, which is part of the reason I'm not going to Seattle with Phil this week. A sudden fear consumed me that we would both be killed in a plane crash and my kids would become orphans. I can barely even let myself think those thoughts because they really disturb me.
Anyway, Phil is quite upset, understandably, with this turn of events, but I'm hoping that he'll come to understand the strong emotions that are in play here. His answer to the situation was for us to get flight insurance so that if anything happened, there would be even more than my current life insurance policy, to help them through life. But it's not about money. It's about the fact that I'm the only one who understands half of what Amanda says. I know what songs to sing to Lucas and when a boo-boo really needs some attention instead of just a "pep" talk to brush it off.
No one would love them the way Phil and I do -- no matter how much they were loved by relatives, it would never be the same. Anyway, I know something could happen at anytime, but the chances of both of us dying at the same time are not great.
On another note, we bought Lucas' Halloween costume the other day. He wants to be Jake Justice from the rescue heroes, so we bought a police officer costume and we'll make a "rescue heroes" badge for him to wear on Halloween. Luc has really taken to wearing the costume around the house and locking all his stuffed animals up with the handcuffs.
Amanda will wear a tiger costume -- a handme down from a relative (I can't remember where we got it). This is probably the last year I can make the decision of what she'll wear with no input from her.
That's about it for now. Will write when we get back from vacation and hopefully have some pics.Comments:Add a comment:
