Today Amanda really started using more two-word phrases -- "bye-bye, mama", "hi, doggy", "more grapes"....
It's so weird -- yesterday she wasn't doing this and today she is.
Lucas had fun at school today where they made peanut butter and honey sandwiches. Of course he did not try his creation because he "hates sandwiches!".Comments:Add a comment:

We're settling nicely in the new house. We've been here about a week and Lucas stopped asking about his old room about 4 days ago. The kids love the backyard and the house just has much more room for them to run around. Part of this is because we have no furniture in the front room yet -- just a bunch of toys. We'll eventually put a couch in there and I'm sure the kids will be unhappy about that. Lucas' school will finish up for the year next week and then he'll have two weeks off. He'll then go on T and Th for preschool throughout the summer.
Lucas is really so much fun to be around. He loves to pretend play and wants to help out around the new yard. I just love him so much!
Amanda is also a good little helper. She loves to water the flowers for me and make food in her pretend kitchen. She is really such a bright girl. She is saying so many words now and understands when we tell her she must eat her dinner/lunch if she wants a popsicle or something like that after the meal. She can follow lots of directions -- when I say it's time to brush teeth she toddles to the bathroom. When I tell her we are done and to put her toothbrush on the counter, she obeys (well, sometimes). She definitely has a mind of her own.
She likes to follow big brother around and he tolerates her sometimes. But I feel for Luc when he has worked hard building something and Amanda comes around and destroys his creation:(
I'm going to try to put a few more current pictures up today.Comments:Add a comment:

Can't believe it's been a month since I last wrote.
Things have been very busy around the Crouse Haus.
We sold our house and bought a new house. We are moving in 4 days! I am nervous about how Lucas is going to react. Amanda won't care (I don't think) but I was talking to Lucas about it tonight and he got very sad and said he only wanted to stay in this house all the time.
I hope that we can make his new house just as good as this one is to him.
Lucas is having fun at preschool with Abby. He loves when we pick Abby up on Wed. and Fridays. He'll sit in his seat and Abby behind and say "Abby, you know what?" and Abby will say, "What?".
It is the funniest thing. Sometimes Lucas tells her about his favorite VeggieTales show and sometimes he and Abby go on and on about how they hate swimming and how I live in the water:) It is a lot of fun to drive with them.
Lucas is doing well in school. I had a conference with one of his teachers and of course she said how bright he is. He knows all uppercase and most lowercase numbers. He can count to 20 and knows colors and shapes well. He can sort things into categories and can recognize and spell his own name. We are still working on writing his name, but come on folks, he's only 3.5! He is friendly with the other kids but he does sometimes fail to listen. Like if he is dumping water all over the floor and you tell him to stop, it takes telling him about 3 times before he actually stops or acknowledges you.
My sweet, sweet boy is growing up so fast:( He now will readily abandon me for playmates and can spend time on projects by himself. Of course a part of me has wanted this for 3 years now, but now that he wants to spend less time with me, it makes me a bit sad. I know I probably have almost a decade before he decides he doesn't need me at all, but every day he will get a little and little further from needing me.
Amanda is another story. She is actually becoming much more affectionate. She was such a non-cuddler from the beginning (I'm the opposite) but she is suddenly coming around and is such a happy, funny girl. She is smart and enjoys copying things that Lucas does. She can say many words now, too many to list, and she is getting much better at communicating her needs. Both kids are sleeping great and that is something we have been blessed with. Amanda is still nursing 2 - 3 times a day and I have tried to gently stop this but she won't be stopped yet:( Maybe in a few months.
Both my babies are growing up and we are about to leave the house where they both learned to crawl, walk, talk and throw tantrums. I am excited about the move but also feeling a little nostalgic about the "baby" period of my life being over. We had a garage sale over the weekend and started getting rid of some baby items. That's it folks, no more for us and that is a good thing -- but the smell of a newborn head and the tenderness of an infant sleeping in my arms is something I wish I could have once-in-a-while.Comments:Add a comment:
