Another Christmas gone and my baby boy is now 4! It's so hard to believe that 4 years have gone by in the blink of an eye. Lucas enjoyed his second birthday celebration. We headed over to chuck e cheese with Grandma and Grandpa C., Uncle Kev, Aunt Molly and Aunt Matt (yes, that's what the kids call him). I really dislike that place and the food is pretty gross, but Lucas had so much fun playing all the games and redeeming his tickets for a junky little water pistol.
Christmas was 2 days later and I think Santa was tired and he decided to drop off presents for a few households at our place.
Lucas' two biggies were the hyperjet from Santa and a drum set from the Grandparents. He loves both. Amanda is having fun creating art with her easel and she loves her new leappad bus.
Christmas day at Grandma Agoura's was a bit too much for the kids. By then they hadn't had a good night's sleep in a few days and I think they were overwhelmed by all the gifts. Lucas lost it a bit, and I must admit that I did too. I was tired from planning his party and then getting last minute gifts wrapped. I always have high expectations of a "perfect" Christmas and of course I am let down. I am glad the kids had fun but I'm glad the holidays are over. I feel a great weight lifted off my shoulders.
Lucas is on vacation now and it is a good thing that my work is a bit slow right now. I have monthly billing to take care of this weekend but other than that I think we'll lay low around the Crouse Haus for New Year's.
Only 2.5 weeks left to plan a special day for Amanda's 2nd birthday!Comments:Add a comment:

The neighbors stole my nice weather!!!
So, yesterday was Lucas' birthday party (many of you were there) and of course, it rained. I was really counting on good weather because we had 16 kids and what can you do with 16 kids ages rangine 18 months to 8? A bouncey castle! But of course is was raining so we were all stuck indoors. The kids had a good time (everyone says) but I was feeling a bit claustrophobic and a bit like Lucas missed out on the nice party I had planned -- not the mention the complete waste of $130 because the bounce house place doesn't give refunds.
Today we were invited to our neighbor's 3rd birthday party (she came to Luc's yesterday). Woke up today to a beautiful, sunny day. Phil took the kids over to the party and of course the whole time all the kids were outside, running around and having a great time. Oh, and they were all in the bouncey castle!
Anyway, Lucas and Amanda had a really nice time at both parties. But we are paying the price now for letting Lucas indulge in some foods that have been off limits lately. What a difference in his attitude and behavior after just two days. Tomorrow it's back to being more vigilant about what he eats and I'm really going to try to be tough over Christmas. I want to enjoy his vacation!Comments:Add a comment:

We had a pretty busy weekend. Paul M. came out for a visit on Friday night and we all stayed up way too late. It was great! We (I) got up early with the kids, went on a walk and then headed home around 10 a.m.... just in time to see the guys waking up!
In the afternoon we had a surpise guest. Cousin Evie came over to spend the night. We took the kids out to dinner and ice cream and they were all relatively behaved. Evie would make an excellent older sister. She handled Amanda like a a pro.
On Sunday Lucas, Evie and I headed out to see the Nutcracker at the Civic Arts plaza. We met up with Grandma M., Julia, Rana, Megan, Emma, LeighAnn, Caroline, Kevin, Abby and Kerri. Lucas really seemed to enjoy the show. We then headed over to California Pizza for a dinner celebration for Aunt Rana's 40th. Lucas was beginning to lose it at that point because he had no nap and had eaten a bunch of junk.
Overall it was a nice weekend and I really enjoyed getting to spend time with Eve.
Lucas and Amanda are getting cuter every day. I took them to the park the other day and the way they were playing together was so cute. It doesn't really translate into words, but I wish I had had my video camera with me. Lucas was telling Amanda that she was in jail and she had to stay put. Then he would walk away and dramatically pretend that he didn't see her as she made a break for it. Then he would chase her and they would both fall down laughing. This lasted for like 15 minutes.
Man, they can fight so much but these small moments in time when they actually enjoy eachother is so nice.
I also have to note here that when Amanda woke up from her nap today the first words out of her mouth were "Where's uncle KK?"
What else, what else....
Amanda used the potty twice today. One time was after she said she had to get to the potty quick. That was the first time she actually told me she had to use the potty. Usually it's just me putting her there after her nap and waiting for something to happen. I must say that i hate potty training. I now remember how much time I spent on the bathroom floor with Lucas reading countless books waiting for something to happen. I just HATE it. I hate that time spent in the bathroom just waiting!Comments:Add a comment:
