Happy Halloween!
The kids had a blast running around the neighbhorhood demanding treats. Lucas was dressed as Jake Justice (a rescue hero) and Amanda was a cute lady bug. This was the second time out for treats -- we hit the local parks and rec trick or treat village on Saturday night and I think that was actually a bit more fun. Local girl scouts and cub scout troops decorated little playhouses and handed out candy to the tiny terrors. There was an abundance of pirates and princesses.
Tonight we hurridly ate dinner and the kids loved handing out candy and seeing who would come to the door. Then Phil and I took turns taking the kids out. Lucas got quite freaked out by one house that had fog machine. It produced a large amount of "fog" and Lucas ran screaming.
There is lots of candy in their buckets even after weeding out the too chewy and too hard candies.
I'm sure over the next few days Lucas and Amanda will ask to go trick or treating again not quite getting the idea of the once a year thing.

I have two kids!
Sometimes I'm sitting with one or both of the kids and I think, WHAT... these are my children? I don't feel that old or capable of being the primary caretaker of these precious little beings.
I was sitting with Amanda tonight, reading her stories and I just felt so happy. I have so much fun coloring with her, playing with her dollhouse, just doing girl things. I'm so lucky to have such a sweet, fiesty child. She is really in to reading on her own right now. She likes to do everything herself, including read books. So she'll give one to me to read and when I'm through she'll take that book, give me a new one, and proceed to "read" on her own. Laptime is only sometimes now because she likes to be doing her own thing.
Then we have crazy Lucas who is all about Rescue Heroes. It's constant role playing around the Crouse Haus. And although he isn't into "regular" sports at all (like playing ball or things like that) he loves to climb and jump. It freaks me out sometimes. At the park this afternoon he decided to run down the slide. I didn't have time to stop him but he got halfway down and then bit the dust somewhat hard. I waited half a second to respond and at first I heard a wimper, then as I went to pick him up, we both started cracking up. It was too funny. Why did you do that? I asked. I don't know, he laughed!!!
I'm feeling 98% better than I did a few days ago, which is a good thing because Phil is down for the count. He's got a major cough and cold. I thank God that we weren't stricken at the same time because one of us can always pick up the slack if the other one is down.

Another month gone...
Kids are growing and not driving me as crazy as they were this summer.
Lucas is scaling down his naptime to about an hour, so I'm trying to work my schedule around that.
Amanda is still napping well, especially since she now has a little cold.
I am feeling human again after feeling like death from pneumonia over the weekend. The killer antibiotics are working!! They are pretty heavy-duty, though, and I wouldn't recommend the dosage to the faint of heart or gut:)
I've discovered that Amanda likes to swallow her penne pasta whole! Today at lunch she was just putting that tube pasta in her mouth and didn't even move her jaw. Freakin me out!
She has also become quite fond of saying "I wuv you" and coming up for a big hug. She even does this to Lucas who usually tries to run away.
We went to the pumpkin patch on Sunday and the kids picked out some cute little pumpkins that we'll paint later this week. The days are passing quickly -- with work, trips to the park and library and trying to keep boredom at bay, I hardly notice what day it is anymore.
Only 68 shopping days until Christmas!Comments:Add a comment:
