It's back to work after a nice weekend.

On Friday I took Amanda to the doctor for her 9 month checkup. She was 18 pounds, 11 ounces and
28 3/8 inches long. We also found out that she has her first ear infection:( She's been really cranky for a couple of weeks now and I just attributed it to her learning new things. She hasn't had a fever or much trouble eating/sleeping, so I didn't suspect illness. But then last week her eye started to get a bit infected so I asked the doc about it. She checked the ear and sure enough, there is a nasty infection there. So, Amanda is on her first antibiotic. But what a difference it has made. She is so much happier now and I feel totally guilty for not knowing that something was up.

On Friday afternoon Phil's folks headed out this way and we went to have some pics taken with the kids. On Saturday we all piled into the minivan and headed to Santa Monica for the ALS walk. We had a really nice time doing that and the kids were great. Late Saturday afternoon Phil and I wrote down some instructions for the grandparents Crouse and we headed to the Westlake Village Inn for a night away.
It was totally awesome! We did miss the kiddos but enjoyed every minute of our free time.
We got back around 11 a.m. on Sunday and had a nice lunch with Ray and Jeme. After naptime we headed out to Peach Hill Park in the wagon and the kids got some fresh air. It's a good thing because it looks like we might be in for a bit of rain over the next couple of days.

Lucas came down with a bit of a stomach bug on Sunday afternoon. The sore tummy coupled with a badly scraped knee made a very unhappy boy:(
The doc said to lay off the milk for a couple of days -- easy for her to say, but Luc loves milk!
This morning he wanted cereal for breakfast and oatmeal wouldn't do. I told him he could have cereal without milk. I put a bowl of cereal in front of him and he looked up and said "can you put water in it instead of milk?"
Ew! I said "sure" and he ate the whole bowl without complaining.
He seems to be much better today and so he is at school.

Amanda is still sitting around:) No crawling for that baby yet, although she is cruising around the furniture quite a bit. No new teeth to report but she does enjoy chewing on everything from baby cookies to the remote. I've caught her saying "mama" a few times but never directed at me. She also says "dada" all the time and I think she is trying to say "ball".
She knows up and down and likes to pull up when I say "up" and then promptly sit down when I say "down."

We're back from vacation and starting to get into the swing of things again.
We went up to Santa Barbara and Morro Bay last week. We had a few nice days in S.B. with Molly and Matt and then we headed up to MB for two nights. We couldn't have asked for better weather.
The most difficult thing about travelling with two little ones is trying to keep their schedule somewhat normal. They are still so dependant on their naps to be in good shape and I must say that we pushed Amanda to her limits. We took a nice boat ride in the harbor in S.B. and walked around downtown and hit some parks. Lucas had a great time and was very well behaved.
On Wednesday we headed up to Morro Bay and unfortunately that day sort of fell apart. Phil and I were both tired and so were the kids. They were not really happy with anything we did. But we redeemed ourselves on Thursday. We headed out early to a seaside park and then went on a boat ride on a "sub" boat. Lucas had a great time seeing all the fish and the otters and sea lions. We then took a walk out by the tidepools and Luc had fun touching the anemomes and hermit crabs. We watched the beautiful sunset and had dinner out by the bay.
Overall it was a very nice trip.
The weekend brought Grandma Agoura's birthday and a picnic in the park. Luc had a blast running around with is cousins. Sunday we hit the Oktoberfest at the local farm and Luc enjoyed finding his way through the corn maze.

Amanda is looking like she might finally crawl in the next month or so. She is eating a wider variety of foods (cheerios, soup, sliced banana and bread). I think she'll be very happy once she can crawl, but for now she is content to scoot around the floor.

Oh, and Lucas never stops impressing me. Last night we were working on letters and he knows what letter some words start with -- he knows the first letter in: Daddy, Mommy, Abby, Baby, Lucas, Bus, and Sun. Wow! I don't know what is considered "normal" but every time he busts out with some new talent I am amazed. I love my kids!
